Original Framed Painting on Stretched Canvas - Nebula Among Stars

Process:

Painting:
I first painted the entire canvas black. Next, the majority of the paint was applied by pouring my special mixture of acrylic paint and pouring medium. This was done using several different pouring techniques in order to get desired effects...pouring was used to construct the small piles of paint blobs (stars), the strings of paint circling the stars, and the nebula, which is made up of rings of various colors...some of which were already fluorescent paint, and some of which I needed to painstakingly embellish using premium quality fluorescent acrylic paint markers. After all the paint cured, I applied 7 coats of Golden MSA Archival Gloss Varnish, over a one week period, to achieve a thick, high-gloss finish. Note: Unlike other professional artists who may use resin as a top coat, I used a varnish that won't turn yellow over time.

Frame:
On the sides of my custom made black floater frame, I drew abstract stars using fluorescent acrylic paint markers. Then, I used fluorescent acrylic spray paints to create cloudy nebulas among the stars.

This piece is artwork on all sides.

Due to the fluorescent paint, the piece really POPs and is truly eye-catching under blacklight in any dark room. So, it’s like having 2 paintings for the price of 1!
